A Judaica artist specializing in fiber arts and illustration, Elly Bovarnick explores her spirituality using Jewish motifs and vibrant colors to create intricately designed ritual pieces. Originally from Tampa, FL, Elly takes inspiration from many places she has lived, especially from Spain with its rich artistic history. She received her BA in Art and Art History from New College of Florida in Sarasota, FL. She earned a Master’s in Textile and Surface Design from the Instituto Europeo di Diseño in Madrid, Spain where she was elected delegate of her master’s program. While living in Spain for four years, she became fluent in Spanish, learned to speak French, learned some Moroccan Arabic, and improved her Hebrew. Upon returning to the states, she started her business, Elly Bovarnick Studios, where she makes and produces Judaica sold around the world. While starting her business, Elly was heavily involved in community organizing in Tampa, FL. She was a Moishe House Without Walls Host, participated in the Hope Cohen Barnett Leadership Institute, and attended the Brandeis Camp Institute. For all of her hard work as a passionate educator and community organizer, she won the Charles Adler Young Leadership Award in 2025. Elly is currently in her second year of rabbinical school at Hebrew College in Newton, MA. She hopes to apply her rabbinic knowledge to her art work to create spiritually significant and aesthetic Jewish art and Jewish ritual pieces. Elly is a dedicated learner and maker. She is passionate about designing rich and vibrant Jewish ritual objects that connect people back to tradition in new and innovative ways.
